The Clean Makeup Edit

To be clear, I’m not advocating that my skin & makeup routine is 100% clean and rid of toxins. That is the end goal though! Lately, I have been on a mission to pay attention to the products I put on my body, and opt for clean ingredients. In this post I’m chatting about the products that I’ve purchased over the past couple of years that fall into the “clean” category.

What motivated me to clean-up my skincare + makeup routine (pun intended)? Firstly, I’ve always gone in the direction of good health. Secondly, clean products are widely accessible now than ever before. Making the small strides towards a clean beauty routine seemed like the perfect opportunity to “do” & “achieve” a goal I had been clinging on to. Lastly, I have sensitive skin and finding a skincare routine that worked wasn’t easy. Products with harsh chemicals left my skin with major burns. I would read loads of articles trying to figure out which chemicals and ingredients I needed to avoid for my sensitivity. That’s when it hit me, “why am I even using chemicals on my body/face?” It’s been an all natural, clean experimentation from there.

FACE

Kosas Tinted Face Oil Foundation — Currently using this foundation. I’ve never used a tinted face oil/moisturizer before — I’m LOVING this product! A little goes a long way and the coverage is great. I find that the foundation lasts all day and I also love how smooth my skin looks & feels when wearing it!

Josie Maran Argan Matchmaker Serum Foundation — This was my go-to for a while. I like to switch up my foundations every now and then. I will probably add this back into my rotation in the near future.

Taste Skin Twinkle Lighting Palette Volume II – Sea Collection— These swatches!!!! Ah, I can’t rave about this product ENOUGH! All the colors look so beautiful and shimmery on the skin – it’s impossible to play favorites.

Kosas Color & Light Pressed Powder Blush & Highlighter Duo — For the days I want a more subtle look, I pull out this beautiful combo. I use the Papaya 1972 palette — I find that the nude pink blush looks best on my skin tone.

EYES

ILIA Limitless Lash Mascara — Flake-free & voluminous… what more could you want in a mascara?!

LIPS

Lilah B. Tinted Lip Balm— I love a good lipstick, but lip balms are really where it’s at. The lilah b. balm gives the perfect tint while doing it’s job: to keep my lips moisturized throughout the day. I purchased the “cheeky – red” shade.

SKIN

Farmacy Sleep Tight Firming Night Balm — I use this as part of my nightly routine, but you don’t have to just use it at night! This product is one of my favorites that I will continue to buy for the rest of my lifetime (crossing my fingers that it never gets discontinued). It’s light-weight and supports firming & toning (toning has always been a struggle of mine).

Milk Makeup Hero Salve — I use this moisturizer before putting my foundation on and again before bed. Sadly, I think this may be discontinued because I haven’t been able to find it ANYWHERE. Luckily, I still have a lot left of this product. It will be a sad day when I polish it off.

FRAGRENCE

Clean Reserve – Rain Travel Spray — I look for perfumes with a clean, light aroma. This warm fresh scent is long-lasting and smells as sweet as magazine pages (you know what I’m talking about!)

I’m always looking for new products to try — share your favorite clean makeup brand or product in the comments 🙂
